omar used to be in the US army

hELLrAISER

ok sure america has its problems i’m not denying that
but SOME of us do believe in equality
don’t stereotype us all based on the ~*ignorant "MURKA" ASSholes~*

Upon careful consideration of the matter at hand, the moderators have determined that the recent string of posts made by DERiDDA do represent a flagrant disregard for the rules of this board, and this user has been temporarily banned. We would also like to take advantage of this opportunity to issue a friendly reminder to all users to be civil and refrain from offensive language as much as possible. Thanx! :) - The Mods

hELLrAISER

lmao this place is a joke
first someone gets banned for speaking the truth
now we can’t even SWEAR
on a board thats supposed to be about OBM who swear ALL the time
what would xander think of all this ~*censorship*~ i wonder???

truBELEAFkeper

omg ur so right hellraiser
this place is starting to feel like the place in the letter where the nazis sent the ppl they didnt like

The moderators would like to remind all users to use The Letter when referring to the short story, and “the letter” when referring to the letter within that story, to avoid confusion. - The Mods

hELLrAISER

truBELEAFkeper

The UNBAN D_______ (spelling varied wildly) movement, like so many before it, soon became a rallying cry for anyone with undirected feelings of frustration or dissatisfaction. It was an ad hoc coalition, in which the following groups were prominently represented: those who had been left out of the OGTBers board and had to remain on the original TB board, like second-tier Jehovah’s Witnesses  post-rapture; the few TXers who were brave enough to step outside the sanctuary of the REALTXers board and lived in perpetual fear of their ties being discovered and so tried to make their comments as crowd-pleasy and anodyne as possible; the TBers who still believed the central tenet of their ideology was controversial and subversive just because it had been on Saturday; some who were still leftover-mad about the whole “speculation” fiasco; and, as always, some opportunists and hangers-on whose only desire was to spew their favorite racist epithets with impunity.

The founder of the movement tried her best to disavow the latter group, but it soon became unclear what exactly D______ had been banned for, except that it was speech of some kind, which is a rather useless, though not untrue, designation.

Later that evening, a new tag, a new movement began: BAN D________ FOREVER. This group was smaller in number but more organized and cohesive. They were staunch segregationists who likened TB and TX to oil and water (Basic); fire and water (Advanced,  or those with a partisan bias); or Israelis and Palestinians (College-Educated.) Their position was that keeping things separate allowed places like the Letterati board to remain neutral, Athenian agoras where topics could be discussed rationally, dispassionately, sanely. They derided the mods as weaklings, lightweights - like the Nevilles Chamberlain (CE) or Longbottom (B) - who, under the guise of free speech, were willing to allow speakers that made everyone else feel less free. One notable exception was Shelly_Belly_89, who joined BFD because she still nursed a grudge against the founder of the UD movement for reasons she couldn’t remember but assumed were legitimate.

Then, there was a half-ironic movement to BAN POST TAGS, started by a user who was getting sick of seeing them everywhere and couldn’t (as his mom suggested) “just ignore them.” This was adopted by many contrarians and class clowns, including some who were still using D______-related tags (for the sake of greater irony) - as well as a few casual posters who thought it was referring to the [Post-Phil] tags that were being slapped on everything, which they didn’t understand and therefore distrusted, and figured if someone else was protesting them, they must be bad.
