idk... i know this isn’t the ~*popular*~ thing to say but i’m a little disappointed with the new stuff?? like the letter was cool but this album seems like its gonna be. hacky? cheesy?? i wish theyd go back to black carousel kinda stuff. that was xander at his best

ever since i found out bobby was involved i guess i kinda lost faith in OBM. it’s like finding out there’s no santa claus as a kid and all the presents just came from the store

Hey, hELLrAISER, you might be interested in my theory that Xander really did write The Letter, as well as these new songs. It hinges on the idea that he is actually a more sophisticated artist and thinker than many critics want to give him credit for. What seems on the surface like “hackiness” (your term) is really a comment on the inevitable hackiness of “art” in a corporatized, consumerist culture. For some reason, my posts keep being deleted from this board, but I’ve published a version my private blog here if you’re interested; it may help you regain your faith in Xander as an artist!
